The Innovation Festival in Milan will take place from 5th to 10th October 2010 in the City centre. The initiative will focus on life-improving innovation, with the aim to demonstrate the importance of new technologies in our lives.
Through exhibitions, happenings, shows, and more formalized events - like workshops and seminars, focusing on strategic topics - the effort will be devoted to spread the innovation culture, demonstrating the strong innovation character of the Milan area, the strategic importance of innovation for the growth of Italian and European competitiveness and for the improvement of living conditions and sustainable territorial development.
Themes and audiences
The themes will be ICT, food, energy and transportation, architecture and design and the target will be the widest audience, from children to the elderly, professional and non, from the public, private and educational sectors, starting from the consideration that everybody could be an innovator and everybody is concerned everyday with innovation.
Regional innovation identity
The first innovation week in Milan was organised in 2007, under the title ‘Innovation Circus’ (ProInno Action). In 2010 the Italian partners Alintec and Province of Milan will organise, thanks to the support of the European Commission, the 4th edition of the innovation week. The initiative is crucial to build a strong regional innovation identity that can attract potential business partners from abroad and to set up a platform where relevant stakeholders could meet and discuss periodically of innovation strategies, also in view of the Expo 2015, where innovation will play a major role.
Other local partners will be involved who already participated in the past editions and who share the aims of this project: the Municipality of Milan, the Milan Chamber of Commerce, the Lombardy Region, the educational system through the local Universities and the industrial sector, through the participation of Industrial Associations (Assolombarda) and innovative companies.
